Family Photos

My family recently had photos taken to blow up and put in our living room. We had to do this soon because we kids are beginning to settle down and move away from home. Who knows when the next time this family will be complete?

I just want to put these photos in here not only because we are all dressed to the nines, but because family photos (complete ones, at best) are always blog-worthy.

Oh, and I'm the one in red.

Speaking in Tongues

What turns me on best in a guy? -- Two things on the way he works his tongue.

He has to be a good kisser. If he kisses intensely, yet carefully, the way Ryan Gosling did Rachel McAdams in The Notebook in that lake-in-the-rain scene, he’s a keeper.

But more than that, he has to be a very good communicator. He knows when to baby-talk and when to be prim. He is also best at mixing a thought-provoking dialogue with wit and hilarity.

If a guy is both, he will keep me awake all night wanting more. If he is only one of the above, he will make me smile in my head and say “stop”.

When Is One Too Many?

I usually scoff at people who justify that they had “one too many drinks”, and they end up doing things they knew they would regret before the drinking even happened. But what happens if reality kicks in and you find yourself saying that same excuse?

Do you acknowledge your clouded reason and say “let’s drink to that!”?
Or do you sober up and swear off alcohol for the rest of your life?

Trying Times

I can’t help but write about the ongoing crisis of my Beloved Philippines. I have patiently listened to several of the Congressional hearings regarding the "Gloriagate tape" the past weeks, and have heard different kinds of stories.

Right this very moment, protesters from different sectors of society are in Ayala Ave. urging GMA to step down. Yesternight, GMA asked for her Cabinet to resign, pre-empting the planned mass resignation this morning -- which indeed happened. All throughout the day, different groups have expressed their statements imploring that the President step down. Former President Fidel Ramos, however, visited Malacanang (our White House) and suggested that we change the Constitution and switch to a Parliamentary form of government.

It is now 6pm. GMA just gave away a statement saying that she will not step down and that she leaves everything to Congress, and would focus more on doing her job, while appointing a new Cabinet who are more concerned with the country’s overall welfare. She has rejected the calls for her resignation, saying that such actions were causing "deep and grievous harm to the nation”.

What an action-packed day. I hope GMA got to eat lunch today.

By the time you read this, this will have been already moot. And who knows, my country may already have a new President. But I just want to blog a little about this, and express that I am not an apathetic Pinoy.

Sigh. My boyfriend is arriving in a few days. I wouldn’t want him to face this turmoil while he vacations here. I guess it’ll help to just not read or watch the news. I’ll probably just bring him to Megamall – the favorite sanctuary of Filipinos in trying times like this. Or maybe I’ll just lure him into watching “Darna” and “Encantadia” to escape reality for an hour.

Oh, and the peso closed at P56.10 to a dollar today. It got better!
